THEATRE DANCE TEACHING: Before you are able to gain an Associate teaching qualification (Professional Teaching Qualification), you must Pass the Pre - Associate part 1 & 2. (Student Teaching Qualification) in one of the core subjects (Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz). The Pre Associate system is designed as a springboard to associate (fully qualified teacher status) it gives teachers the chance to fully understand the principles of teaching dance to children, from technical to the creative aspects of dance. This qualification is ideal for the intermediate student who is looking at a career in teaching dance and is working under the guidence of a qualified teacher as an assistant, or experienced dancers/teacher qualified with another association, who wishes to follow a teaching career and establish their own dance school. Criteria needed to train as a Pre - Associate Teacher of Ballet, Tap, Modern Jazz or Theatre Craft. If you are under 21 years old, you will need to have taken your Intermediate Performers Examination in your chosen subject (s) . However if you are over this age and have experience as a dancer in your chosen subject (s), you may take the Pre - Associate part 1 & 2 without taking your Intermediate. During your pre associate study you will need to take an anatomy and physiology diploma. This is in the form of a multi chioce paper. Study material can be obtained from the IDTA. Once you have gained both of these student level qualifications you can then go onto train as an Associate. Crossover Coaching for members of the RAD/ISTD and other dance associations. Masque offers coaching sessions for teachers who have become members via the RAD/IDTA agreement or teachers who are crossing over to IDTA from another association. We can also offer training for further Pre Associate & Associate qualifications so teachers may progress onto higher teaching levels within other dance subjects.
