COURSE CONTENT& ASSESSMENTS

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

​

The course has a strong focus on practical activity, with high level, comprehensive, pure dance and musical theatre training, all delivered by experienced performing arts specialists and industry professionals. You will develop your technique, artistic understanding and overall fitness to prepare you for a career in professional dance and/or musical theatre.

You will gain experience in a range of specialisms through regular classes in musical theatre, including singing and acting covering voice, dialect, approach to script and improvisation. You will also study ballet (classical and repertoire), jazz (technical, partnering and a range of artistic variations), contemporary dance, commercial/hip hop, tap, choreography and audition technique, all of which will develop you as a versatile artist.

You will also receive regular classes in stretch, strengthening and conditioning, including acro skill building, along with regular masterclasses with industry professionals, such as our patron James Bennett, to cement the skills learned and to experience other styles not regularly on the curriculum.

IN WHAT WAY WILL I BE THEORETICALLY AND PRACTICALLY ASSESSED?

​

Additionally you will study core units linked to your professional training.  This includes the study of performing arts business, investigation into practitioner work, group performance workshops and personal practice and development.

​

This will all be assessed in various ways including video evidence, practical performances, assessors witness testimonies, work diary and log books, peer observation, self assessments, written report and assignments.

​

THERE IS NO WRITTEN FINAL EXAM ON THIS COURSE.
